PEDESTRIAN STRUCK IN NEWARK CRASH

DSP News Release: Pedestrian Struck in Newark Crash
Location: Eastbound DE Rt. 273, Christiana Road, at Brownleaf Road, Newark, DE
Date of Occurrence: Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 10:40 p.m.

Operator: Deborah Fitzgerald, 61, Newark, DE Vehicle: 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix
Pedestrian: Kelly L. Tracey, 40, Newark, DE
Resume: Newark- The Delaware State Police are investigating a crash in which a pedestrian was struck that occurred last night in Newark.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:40 p.m. last night as Deborah Fitzgerald, 61, was operating a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix and was traveling eastbound on Christiana Road at the intersection with Brownleaf Road in Newark. Fitzgerald’s vehicle then struck a pedestrian, Kelly Tracey, 40, who was attempting to cross the eastbound lanes of Rt. 273.
Kelly Tracey was transported to the Christiana Hospital by EMS where she was admitted with serious injuries. Her injuries are not considered life threatening, however. Deborah Fitzgerald was not injured.
This crash is still under investigation at this time.
