BURGLAR FOUND ON VICTIM'S COUCH

DSP News Release: Burglar Found on Victim’s Couch

Resume: Long Neck-Tuesday May 24th a 63 year old Long Neck Delaware woman woke to someone sleeping on her couch. Delaware State Police contacted the victim and conducted a burglary investigation at a residence on the unit block of Ritter Drive Long Neck Delaware.
Just after 7 am the victim woke and discovered that her front door was open and an unknown male was lying asleep on her couch. The victim told the male she would be calling the police. The male later determined to be Bradley M. Furchak of Millsboro immediately fled the residence.
The victim provided Troopers with a clothing description of Furchak and that he was last seen running with a beer can still in his hand. The victim additionally discovered that Furchak had consumed more then just one beer while staying at her residence.
Upon surveying the burglary scene, State Troopers discovered Furchak had cut a screen to the victim’s porch in order to gain access.
When Troopers left the burglary scene they canvassed the neighborhood and observed a male walking along School Lane fitting the description the victim provided. Furchak after observing the State Trooper continued to walk a few more steps still consuming his alcoholic beverage.
Delaware State Police searched Furchak and seized 6 prescription pills, containing 650 mg of Ibuprofen with Codeine. The pills were not prescribed to Furchak.
Furchak was later charged with Burglary, Theft, Possession of a Narcotic Schedule III Controlled Substance, Criminal Mischief and Drunk on the Highway. Furchak was arraigned and remanded to Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $2,250 secured bond.
