DSP News Release: Smyrna Woman Dies in Rollover Crash

Resume:

Dover-A fatal crash just after midnight has claimed the life of a Smyrna Delaware woman.  Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit investigated a single vehicle crash on S. State Street S/O Manor Drive just S/O Dover. 

The investigation revealed that a 1997 Nissan Sentra was traveling southbound on S. State Street when it veered across the northbound lane and off the east edge of S. State Street. 

The Nissan driven by Courtney J. Holtzman of Smyrna struck several trees before overturning onto its roof.  Holtzman and her right front passenger Ronny R. McCoy of Camden-Wyoming Delaware were both ejected. 

McCoy was taken to Kent General Hospital where he was treated and admitted for unspecified injuries.  (I currently do not have information as to whether Holtzman died at the scene or at Kent General Hospital) 

Holtzman and McCoy were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.  Alcohol involvement is unknown.

The crash is still under investigation and the State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit requests anyone with information regarding this fatal crash to contact investigators at 302-697-4491 ext. 216
