DSP News Release: State Police Probe Single Vehicle Crash

Resume: Lewes-Delaware State Police Monday afternoon May 23rd investigated a single vehicle crash on Coastal Highway near New Road Lewes Delaware.
The crash occurred around 5:22 pm when a 1999 Ford Windstar van lost control for an unknown reason. The van was traveling northbound on Coastal Highway when it veered off the roadway and into the median, rolling an undetermined number of times.
Once the van came to rest, a white male operator fled the crash scene. The operator is 5’11”, 190 lbs, blond hair, blue eyes wearing a green shirt and possibly jeans. The operator was last seen heading eastbound toward Nassau Road Lewes.
The 42 year old passenger was not injured in the crash. State Police K9 Officers and the State Police Helicopter searched the area for the operator, however he was not located.
Traffic around the area of the crash was temporarily detoured while the crash was being investigated.
State Police are continuing their investigation and request anyone with information regarding the crash or operator to contact Delaware State Police Troop 7 Lewes.
