FOUR INJURED IN NEWPORT AREA CRASH

DSP News Release: Four Injured in Newport Area Crash
Location: Westbound Churchman’s Road west of King Court, Newport, DE
Date of Occurrence: Monday, May 23, 2011 at 1:25 p.m.
Operators/Vehicles:
Operator 1: Sabrina J.K. Reed, 32, Wilmington, DE Vehicle 1: 2007 Saturn Vue
Operator 2: David Lawhorn, 55, Newark, DE Vehicle 2: 1995 Ford F-150 (Owned by New Castle County)
Operator 3: Ralph L. White, 43, New Castle, DE Vehicle 3: 2004 Ford F-150
Resume: Newport- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a three vehicle accident in which four people were injured that occurred early this afternoon in Newport.
The crash happened as Sabrina J.K. Reed, 32, was operating a 2007 Saturn Vue and was traveling eastbound on Churchman’s Road in Newport. For an unknown reason, Reed’s vehicle drifted into the westbound lane where it struck the left rear side of a 1995 Ford F-150 pick up truck which was being operated by David Lawhorn, 55. Reeds vehicle continued in an eastbound direction where it then struck a 2004 Ford F-150 which was being operated by Ralph L. White, 43, head on.
Sabrina Reed, David Lawhorn, Ralph White, and a 47 year old New Castle woman, who was a passenger in White’s vehicle, were all transported by EMS to the Christiana Hospital where they are currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Churchman’s Road was partially closed as the crash was investigated and cleared.
This accident is still under investigation at this time.
