MAN ARRESTED FOR DUI AFTER STRIKING MAN ON SKATEBOARD


DSP News Release:  Man Arrested for DUI after Striking Man on Skateboard

 

Location: DE Rt. 72 (Wrangle Hill Road), north of Porter Road, Bear, DE

 

Date of Occurrence:  Sunday, May 08, 2011 at 2:20 a.m.

 

Operators/Vehicles:

 

Operator: Charod Batts, 36, Middletown, DE

Vehicle: Lexus 350 (Unknown year)

 

Victim:

 

-Clifton Crouch, 18, Newark, DE

 

Resume:   

Bear- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Middletown man for DUI after he struck an 18 year old Newark man while he was on a skateboard in Newark early this morning.

 

The crash occurred at approximately 2:20 a.m. as Charod Batts, 36, was operating a Lexus 350 and was traveling southbound on DE Rt. 72 in the area of Porter Road. Batt’s vehicle struck Clifton Crouch, 18, who was riding on a skateboard in the roadway. Clifton was transported from the scene by EMS to the Christiana Hospital where he is currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

 

Charod Batts was arrested and charged by troopers with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. He was not injured in the crash and stopped at the scene.
