FOUR INJURED IN NEWARK AREA CRASH

DSP News Release: Four Injured in Newark Area Crash
Location: Southbound Otts Chapel Road at Tara Avenue, Newark, DE
Date of Occurrence: Sunday, May 8, 2011 at 5:05 a.m.

Operator: Lindsay E. Lamers, 24, Elkton, Maryland Vehicle: 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier
Charges:
-Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony -Vehicular Assault (3 counts) -Driving under the Influence of Alcohol -Aggressive Driving (2 counts) -No Proof of Insurance -Expired Registration -Following Too Closely -Improper Lane Change -Improper Passing -Traveling at an Unreasonable Speed
Victims:
-24 year old Elkton, Maryland female -24 year old Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania man -24 year old New London, Pennsylvania female
Resume: Newark- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a one vehicle crash that injured four people which occurred early this morning in Newark.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:05 a.m. this morning as Lindsay E. Lamers was operating a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier and was traveling southbound on Otts Chapel Road. For an unknown reason, Lamer’s vehicle drifted into the northbound lane of Otts Chapel Road. The vehicle then swerved back into the southbound lane and traveled off of the right shoulder of the roadway where it struck a street sign and then a tree. The vehicle then began to flip end to end ejecting two of the four occupants of the vehicle before coming to rest.
Lindsay Lamers, as well as three 24 year old passengers in her car, were all transported from the scene by EMS to the Christiana Hospital where they are currently being treated for their injuries.
Troopers have obtained warrants charging Lamers with the above list of crimes. She will be formally arrested upon her release from the Christiana Hospital. This crash remains under investigation at this time.
