BEAR MAN DIES FROM INJURIES SUSTAINED IN APRIL CRASH


DSP News Release:  Bear Man Dies from Injuries Sustained in April Crash

 

Location: Northbound DE Rt. 896 at Mansion House Road, Bear, DE

 

Date of Occurrence:  Monday, April 25, 2011 at 2:25 p.m.

Operator 1: Jesse M. Starks, 60, Bear, DE

Vehicle 1: 2004 Lexus 330

 

Operator 2: Walter F. Golt, 75, Bear, DE

Vehicle 2: 2008 Chevrolet Malibu

Bear- A 75 year old Bear, DE man has died from the injuries he sustained in a two vehicle motor vehicle crash that occurred on DE Rt. 896 late last month.

 

On Wednesday, May 4, 2011, Walter Golt of Bear, DE was pronounced dead at the Christiana Hospital where he had been admitted since April 25, 2011 after being involved in a motor vehicle crash in Bear. His body was turned over to the medical examiner’s office where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

 

In the April 25th crash, Walter Golt was operating a Chevrolet Malibu and was traveling in an eastbound direction through the crossover from southbound Rt. 896 to northbound Rt. 896 at Mansion House Road. Golt failed to remain stopped at a stop sign and entered onto northbound Rt. 896 where it was struck on its right side by a 2004 Lexus 330 that was being operated by Jesse M. Starks, 60, of Bear.

 

Walter Golt, Jesse Starks, and a female passenger in Starks’ vehicle, Joyce Starks, were all transported to the Christiana Hospital where they were treated for their injuries. Walter Golt was cited by troopers for Failure to Remain Stopped at a Stop Sign as well as Failure to Have Proof of Motor Vehicle Insurance.
