DSP News Release: Arrest Made in Delaware Park Robbery

Newark- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Newark, DE man for the robbery of an 85 year old Delaware Park Casino patron that occurred on April 6, 2011.

Detectives arrested Christopher Sarver and charged him with one count each of Robbery 1^st Degree and Assault 1^st Degree. He was arraigned at JP Court 2 and released after posting $10,000.00 secured bail.

During the course of their investigation, state police detectives, with the assistance of Delaware Park security officials, as well as members of the Division of Gaming Enforcement, received a tip that Christopher Sarver was the person responsible for the robbery. Detectives arrested Sarver after he responded to state police Troop 2 in Newark for an unrelated incident.

DSP News Release: Detectives Probe Robbery at Delaware Park

Location: Delaware Park Casino, 777, Delaware Park Boulevard, Wilmington, DE

Date of Occurrence: Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 4:20 p.m.

Victim: 

-85 year old Coatesville, PA man

Suspect:  White male, 20-30 years of age, 5’10”-6’00” tall, 170-180 lbs, with a short military style haircut and an average build. He was last seen wearing a black sweater and a baseball cap.

Stanton- The Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a patron at the Delaware Park Casino that occurred yesterday afternoon.

The incident occurred as an 85 year old patron of the casino, located in the 700 block of Delaware Park Boulevard, was walking through the parking lot when he was approached from behind by a male suspect at approximately 4:20 p.m. Wednesday. The suspect then grabbed the victim and threw him to the ground.  He then began assaulting the victim and then removed his wallet from his pants pocket. The suspect then fled and was last seen exiting the parking lot in a black Chrysler PT Cruiser. The victim suffered minor injuries.
