DSP News Release: Troopers Probe Robbery at the Christiana Mall
Location: Macy’s Department Store parking lot, Christiana Mall, Newark, DE
Date of Occurrence: Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 10:00 p.m.
Victim:
-22 year old Philadelphia, PA woman
Suspect: Black male, 21-23 years of age, 6’00”- 6’03’ tall, with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans, and black shoes. He was also armed with a handgun.
Resume: Newark- Delaware State Police robbery detectives are investigating the parking lot robbery of a Pennsylvania woman that occurred last night at the Christiana Mall.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m. as the victim, an employee of a Christiana Mall establishment, had entered her vehicle in the parking lot after leaving work. The victim was then approached by a male suspect who struck up a conversation with the victim through the partially opened window of her car. The suspect then displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s purse. The victim complied and turned her pocketbook over to the suspect who then fled on foot through the parking lot towards the mall. The victim was not injured.
