DSP News Release: Troopers Probe Stanton Area Robbery

Location:  Delaware Park Casino, 777 Delaware Park Boulevard, Wilmington, DE

Date of Occurrence:  Sunday, March 20, 2011 at 5:45 a.m.

Victims: 

-31 year old Wilmington, DE female

-53 year old Wilmington, DE female

Suspect: White male, 20-30 years of age, 5’07”-6’00” tall, 180-200 lbs. He was last seen wearing a black knit hat, light gray hooded sweatshirt, grey sweatpants, white sneakers, and a black shirt. He was also armed with an unknown type of cutting instrument.

Stanton- Delaware State Police robbery detectives are investigating the robbery of two Delaware Park Casino employees that occurred early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:45 a.m. on Sunday, March 20, 2011, after two female employees of the casino had walked to one of the victim’s cars located in the parking lot after they had finished work for the day.  As the owner of the vehicle (31 year old) was unlocking the doors of the car, a male subject approached her and displayed an unknown type of weapon, described as either a knife or a box cutter.  The suspect then demanded and received the victim’s purse. As this was occurring, the second victim began to run away through the parking lot. The suspect, however; chased the victim and after catching up to her, demanded and received her purse. The suspect then fled through the parking lot on foot. The victims then notified a Delaware Park security guard who attempted to catch the suspect, however, the suspect fled into a wooded area and was able to escape. The victims were not injured.
