UPDATE ROADWAY OPENINGS:

Resume Update Dover-Dover Air Force Base has given authorization for State Route 1 to be reopened. 

Once again all media inquires regarding specifics of the base incident should be directed to the Dover Air Force Base Public Affairs Office.

Resume Update:

Dover-Delaware State Police at 10:19 a.m. were contacted by Dover Air Force Base who requested that State Route 1 north and southbound lanes be closed due to an incident they are handling. 

Delaware State Police along with DELDOT are currently closing certain roadways in the area of Dover Air Force Base. 

Delaware State Police is not able to comment any further on the incident being handled by Dover Air Force Base personnel.

Resume:

Dover-Delaware State Police and the Delaware Department of Transportation (DELDOT) are shutting down portions of SR 1 due to Police activity. 

The following roads closures are in effect until further notice:

• Route 1 northbound is being diverted onto Route 9 located south of Dover Air Force Base.
• Route 1 southbound traffic is being diverted onto the Puncheon Run Connector toward US 13
• Route 1 southbound traffic is being diverted onto Bay Road at exit 95 and sent toward SR 10 East Lebanon Road.
