DSP News Release: Serial Robbery Suspect Arrested

 

Date: Tuesday, March 15, 2011

 

Location: 300 block of Ronald Lane, Smyrna, DE

 

Charges:

 

-Robbery 1st Degree (6 counts)

-Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony

-Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited

-Aggravated Menacing

 

Resume:

Smyrna- The Delaware State Police, with the assistance of the Smyrna Police Department, and the Clayton Police Department apprehended a 30 year old Smyrna man who was wanted for a string of robberies that he committed over the past week.

 

On Tuesday, March 15, robbery detectives obtained information that Larry Sartin was currently inside of a residence located in the 300 block of Ronald Lane in Smyrna. Delaware State Police and officers from the Smyrna Police Department surrounded the residence until a search was executed by the state police Special Operations Response Team with the assistance of the Clayton Police Department.  Sartin was found hiding in the attic of the residence by a Clayton Police Department officer and his K-9 partner.

 

Larry Sartin was arrested and charged with the above listed crimes. He was arraigned at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas and then committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution for lack of $225,000 cash bail.

Resume:

 

Delaware State Police Detectives have obtained warrants and are searching for a Smyrna man after being connected to six robberies that occurred over the past 5 days.

 

During the investigations, Detectives were able to positively identify and link Larry J. Sartin-30 of Smyrna to the six robberies including the latest two that occurred on Saturday, March 12, 2011 in Smyrna.

 

On Saturday March 12, 2011 the following robberies occurred:

 

2:20 p.m.  The first robbery occurred in the 800 block West Mt Vernon Street, Smyrna.  This robbery occurred as a 20 year old male was making a pizza delivery to a residence on West Mt Vernon Street.  When the victim exited his vehicle, he was approached by Sartin and demanded money.  The victim complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of United States Currency.  Sartin fled on foot

 

7:07 p.m. The second robbery occurred at the Valero Gas Station 5703 Dupont Parkway, Smyrna when Sartin entered the business and approached the 47 year old male clerk who was located behind the counter.  Sartin demanded money from the cash register.  The victim complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of United States Currency.  Sartin exited the business and fled on foot.

 

 

 

Delaware State Police Detectives have obtained warrants charging Larry J. Sartin with Robbery First Degree (6 Counts) and related charges.  Detectives are actively searching for Sartin who should be considered armed and dangerous, as he implied that he had a weapon at each incident

 

 

If anyone knows the whereabouts of Larry J. Sartin, do not approach him and call 911 immediately.

DSP News Release: Detectives Probe Two Robberies Committed by Same Suspect

Date and Time of Occurrences:

 

  1. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 6:15 p.m.
  2. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 10:40 p.m.

 

Victim: 

 

  1. 20 year old Townsend, DE man
  2. 51 year old Dover, DE man

 

Suspect:  White male, 25-30 years of age, 5’08”-5’11” tall, 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a tan jacket, black t-shirt with red writing on it, and a black baseball cap. 

 

Resume:  The Delaware State Police are currently investigating two robberies that occurred last night that were committed by the same suspect.

 

The first incident occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. as a male suspect entered the Shore Stop located in the 4000 block of DuPont Parkway in Townsend, DE. The suspect approached the 20 year old store clerk and implied that he was armed. He then demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash from the store register. The suspect then fled the store and was last seen entering a black Jeep Grand Cherokee and exiting the parking lot. The victim was not injured.

 

The second incident occurred at approximately 10:40 p.m. last night as the same suspect entered the Wawa located in the 5600 block of DuPont Parkway in Smyrna. The suspect confronted the 51 year old male clerk and again implied that he was armed. He then demanded and received cash from the store register before fleeing the store. The clerk was not injured. The suspect was described by the clerk as being the same suspect who had robbed the store on the previous evening.

DSP News Release: Detectives Probe Convenience Store Robbery

 

Location:  Wawa, 5632 S. DuPont Highway, Smyrna, DE

 

Date of Occurrence: Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 10:00 p.m.

 

Victim:  51 year old Dover, DE man (employee)

 

Suspect:  

 

White male, 25-30 years of age, 5’08”-5’11” tall, and 175 lbs, thin build, curly hair, and a full brown beard.

 

Resume:  

Smyrna- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating the robbery of the Wawa store located on S. DuPont Highway in Smyrna that occurred last night.

 

The incident occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m. as a male suspect entered the store located in the 5000 block of S. DuPont Highway and confronted the male clerk. The suspect then demanded money from the clerk who complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect then fled the store and was last seen fleeing in a dark colored unknown make or model sport utility vehicle. The clerk was not injured.
