Claymont-Delaware State Police have arrested Michael L. Brooks-45, of Wilmington, DE after committing a strong armed robbery of a 31 year old female victim on Sunday, March 13, 2011.

Troopers responded to the Dollar General Store, 2099 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont to investigate a robbery that had just occurred.  The investigation revealed that the victim, 31 year old female, was shopping in the Dollar General Store, and had placed her purse in a shopping cart.  As the victim continued to shop, Defendant Michael L. Brooks removed her purse from the shopping cart and attempted to exit the store. The female victim confronted Brooks at the front entrance of the store.  The victim demanded her purse back from Brooks and a confrontation took place with Brooks shoving the victim through the front door of the store and both ended up in the parking lot, wrestling on the ground, with Brooks holding onto the purse.  During the altercation, Brooks dropped the purse and fled on foot southbound on Philadelphia Pike.  Troopers responding to the robbery located Brooks in the area of Philadelphia Pike and Holly Oak, and took him into custody.  The victim received minor injuries from the altercation.

Michael L. Brooks was arrested and charged with Robbery First Degree and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $5000.00 Secured Bond.
