Resume: Dover-Delaware State Police Tuesday March 8, 2011 charged Ronald W. Sayers-42 of Dover in connection to a domestic incident at his residence. State Police became aware of the Monday afternoon domestic altercation on Tuesday morning after it was reported to police.
The State Police investigation revealed that Ronald Sayers was home with his 11 year old son Monday afternoon. The spouse of Sayers a 42 year old Dover woman began receiving disturbing telephone calls from Sayers and returned home to investigate.
When the 42 year old victim arrived home she was met by Sayers who was escorting their son into the house with a shotgun. Sayers next ordered the two victims into the living room of the residence and began verbally abusing them. Sayers was allegedly angered over an undisclosed family issue.
Sayers during the verbal assault began to damage items inside the residence. Sayers then fired the shotgun he was holding inside the residence in close proximity to the victims and threatened to inflict bodily harm on them.
The victims were eventually able to flee the residence when Sayers exited the room for an extended period of time. The victims were unlawfully held in the residence at gunpoint for over two hours.
Tuesday afternoon State Troopers responded to Sayers’ residence and took him into custody without incident. A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of 29 firearms found inside the residence.
Sayers was charged and arraigned on 11 criminal offenses including Reckless Endangering, Aggravated Menacing, Unlawful Imprisonment Terroristic Threatening, Child Endangerment and Offensive Touching. Sayers is currently being held at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $45,600 cash bond. |
