DSP News Release:  Dagsboro Woman Critical after Accident

Location: Westbound Vines Creek Road west of West Road, Dagsboro, DE

Date of Occurrence:  Saturday, March 05, 2011 at 6:30 a.m.

Operator 1: Mary Clogg, 49, Dagsboro, DE

Vehicle 1: 1999 Pontiac Coupe (unknown model)

Operator 2: John Wozniak, 41, Dundalk, MD

Vehicle 2: 2006 Freightliner Tractor and Semi-Trailer

Dagsboro- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a serious personal injury accident that occurred this morning in Dagsboro, DE.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. as Mary Clogg was operating a 1999 Pontiac and was traveling eastbound on Vines Creek Road west of West Road in Dagsboro, DE. Clogg’s vehicle crossed the center line of the road and struck the trailer portion of a 2006 Freightliner tractor and semi-trailer that was traveling on westbound Vines Creek Road and which was being operated by John Wozniak of Dundalk, MD. Prior to the impact, Wozniak attempted to avoid the collision by swerving his vehicle off of the north edge of the roadway. Mary Clogg was trapped in her vehicle for approximately 30 minutes until she could be freed by emergency personnel. She was then transported from the scene by helicopter to the Bebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE and then to the Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, where she was admitted in critical condition with multiple injuries. John Wozniak was not injured.

Vines Creek Road was closed for approximately 2 hours as the crash was investigated and cleared. The crash is still under investigation at this time.
