Lincoln-Delaware State Police Major Crimes Detectives have arrested and charged a 28 year old Lincoln, Delaware man in the missing child incident that occurred last evening, Wednesday, March 2, 2011.

Delaware State Police received a 911 call on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at approximately 7:53 p.m. from the mother of the victim, that the victim left their residence at approximately 4:00 p.m. located in the 10000 block Heritage Road, with a known acquaintance of the mother, identified as Guy K. Griffin-28 who also has been staying at the residence.  At approximately 5:45 p.m. she became concerned and attempted to locate and contact Griffin and the victim by cell phone and checking with neighbors.  The mother became concerned when Griffin and the child had not returned home at approximately 7:53 p.m. and notified Delaware State Police.

Upon arrival at the residence, Troopers initiated the investigation and began a search for the child utilizing Troopers, Firefighters, and an aerial search by Delaware State Police Aviation Helicopter, Trooper 2.   Due to circumstances of the disappearance, Delaware State Police activated an “AMBER ALERT” to aid in the search and recovery of the child.

At approximately 10:54 p.m. Griffin and the victim were located by searchers in an unlit area of the Heritage Acres development.  When taken into custody, Griffin was found to be in possession of concealed pocketknife.

Investigation revealed that Griffin had taken the child to a wooded area, in the area of Ellendale, DE and engaged in inappropriate sexual acts with the child.  Further investigation and interviews discovered that a similar incident with Griffin and the child had taken place in February 2011, also in a wooded area. 

Detectives arrested and charged Guy K. Griffin with the above listed charges.  Griffin was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $140,000.00 Cash Bond.
