The incident happened at approximately 4:30 p.m. yesterday (6/8) as a 69 year old Wilmington, DE female was walking to her car in the parking lot of the Kmart Store located in the Pike Creek Shopping Center in the 4700 block of Limestone Road, Wilmington. The victim was then approached by a male suspect who grabbed her purse in an attempt to wrestle it away from her. The victim however, refused to turn over the purse, and became involved in a struggle with the suspect. The suspect eventually succeeded in obtaining the purse at which time he fled from the parking lot. The victim suffered minor injuries however, she refused medical treatment.

Delaware State Troopers with the assistance of officers from the New Castle County Police Department began searching for the suspect. A short time later, a male subject matching the description of the suspect was observed by a New Castle County officer emerging from a wooded area on Skyline Drive a short distance from the shopping center.
