NEWARK WOMAN INJURED IN TWO VEHICLE CRASH

DSP News Release: Newark Woman Injured in Two Vehicle Crash
Location: Westbound US Rt. 40 (Pulaski Highway) just east of Becks Woods Drive, Bear, DE
Date of Occurrence: Monday, June 27, 2011 at 10:10 a.m.

Operator #1: Louis S. Guy, 48, Dover, DE Vehicle #1: 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
Operator #2: Tara M. Ellis, 19, Newark, DE Vehicle #2: 2004 Saturn Ion
Resume: Bear- The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a two car crash in which a Newark, DE woman was seriously injured this morning.
The crash occurred at approximately 10:10 a.m. as Tara M. Ellis, 19 of Newark, DE, was operating a 2004 Saturn and was traveling eastbound on US Rt. 40 in the area of Becks Woods Drive in Bear. For an unknown reason, Ellis’ vehicle traveled in a northbound direction across the grass median and entered into the left hand lane of westbound Rt. 40. Her vehicle was then struck by a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado which was being operated by Louis S. Guy, 48, of Dover, DE.
Tara Ellis was transported from the scene by EMS to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where she is being treated for serious injuries. Louis Guy was also transported from the scene by EMS to the Christiana Hospital where he was treated and released for his injuries.
The westbound lanes of US Rt. 40 were closed for approximately 2 hours as the crash was investigated and cleared. This accident remains under investigation at this time.
