DSP News Release:  Frankford Woman Dies in Three Vehicle Crash

Location: Roxana Road (SR 17) north of Burbage Road, 1 mile south of Millville, DE

Date of Occurrence:  Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 8:45 a.m.

Millville- The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a three vehicle crash in which a Frankford woman was killed that occurred this morning.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:45 a.m. this morning as Monika Webster, 52, was operating a 2005 Ford Explorer and was traveling southbound on Roxana Road. The front of Webster’s vehicle then struck the left front of a 1988 Chevrolet Corsica, which was being operated by Franklin Bunting, 78, and which was attempting to enter (turn) into the northbound lane of Roxana Road after being parked on the southbound shoulder. After the impact both the Chevrolet and the Ford struck a 2006 Dodge Ram that was legally parked unoccupied on the southbound shoulder of Roxana Road.

Hilda B. Bunting, who was a passenger in the Chevrolet Corsica, was pronounced dead at the scene. He body was turned over to the medical examiners office where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death. Franklin Bunting was flown by the Delaware State Police helicopter to the Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE where he is currently being treated with serious injuries. Monika Webster was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to the Beebe Hospital where she was treated for her injuries which are not considered life threatening.

Seatbelts were worn by all of the parties involved in this crash. The roadways in the area of the crash scene were closed for approximately 4 hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.

This accident remains under investigation at this time.

DSP News Release:  Troopers Currently Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash

Location: Roxana Road at Atlantic Avenue, Ocean View, DE

Date of Occurrence:  Saturday, June 18, 2011 at approximately 8:45 a.m.

Operators/Vehicles:  Unknown at this time

Ocean View- The Delaware State Police are currently on the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred this morning in Ocean View, DE.

The initial information is that the accident occurred at Roxana Road and Atlantic Avenue and that one person has been pronounced dead and a second person has been removed from the scene in serious condition. Roxana Road, Atlantic Avenue, and Burbage Road are all closed at this time as a result of the crash. Commuters are asked to find alternate means of travel around the scene.

This crash is in its initial stages of investigation. More details will be released at the conclusion of the investigation.
