DUO ARRESTED AFTER ATTEMPTING BURGLARY OF DINER

DSP News Release: Duo Arrested after Attempting Burglary of Diner
Location: Bear Diner, 603 Pulaski Highway, Bear, DE
Date of Occurrence: Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 12:20 a.m.
Defendants:
Defendant #1: 17 year old Bear, DE youth
Defendant #2: Justin Young, 18, Bear, DE
Charges: Attempted Burglary 3rd Degree, Possession of Burglary Tools, Conspiracy 2nd Degree, Attempted Theft, Criminal Mischief
Resume: Bear- Delaware State Police detectives have arrested a Bear, DE pair after they were apprehended while trying to break into an area diner early yesterday morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:20 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14, as a state trooper on routine patrol in the area of US Rt. 40 and School Bell Road, Bear, observed two individuals dressed in all black clothing walk around the rear of the Bear Diner located in the 600 block of Pulaski Highway. The trooper entered the rear parking lot of the business where he then observed one of the subjects, later identified as a 17 year old Bear, DE youth, walking away from the rear door of the diner. The trooper took the juvenile subject into custody and then located the second subject, later identified as Justin Young, 18, hiding behind propane tanks behind the diner. Young was also taken into custody. A subsequent search of both subjects revealed that they were in possession of several screwdrivers, ice picks, and two way radios. It was also discovered that the defendants had attempted to pry open the rear door of the business causing approximately $400.00 in damage to it.
The 17 year old male subject was arrested and charged with the above list of crimes. He was arraigned at the New Castle County Family Court and released on $11,000.00 unsecured bail. Justin Young was arrested and also charged with the above list of crimes. He was arraigned at JP Court 11 and then committed to the Howard Young Correctional Center for lack of $8750.00 secured bail.
