60 Years of Dedicated Service to the Delaware State Police

 

Event: 

  • Luncheon in Honor of Constance “Connie” Dick’s Years of Service to the Delaware State Police

Service Biography:

  • Began with the Delaware State Police on June 15, 1951 at the age of 17.
  • 25 men were assigned to Troop 4 at that time, two of which were detectives. (Det. George Schmalhofer and Det. Sgt. Edward McCabe)
  • Ms. Dick took dictation for all detective cases and traffic cases sent to Superior Court or the Court of Common Pleas.
  • Assisted detectives on Murder investigations by taking statements from witnesses by shorthand.  Ms. Dick would then provide typewritten reports of these statements to detectives for court cases.
  • Delaware State Police Troop 4 at that time covered all of eastern Sussex County and also included Lewes, Rehoboth down to Fenwick Island.
  • 30 sick days used in 60 year of service!  10 of which were used after being involved in a traffic crash when she suffered a broken collar bone in 1983.
  • Has worked along side 26 Troop Commanders over 60 years.
  • Prior Civilian of the Year award recipient presented by the Delaware State Police

 

On Wednesday June 15, 2011 the Delaware State Police Organization, Governor Jack Markell, friends and family will honor Constance “Connie” Dick for her unwavering dedication and devotion to the State of Delaware.
