PEDESTRIAN IN CRITICAL CONDITION FOLLOWING HIT AND RUN CRASH

DSP News Release: Pedestrian in Critical Condition Following Hit and Run Crash

Resume: Rehoboth Beach-Delaware State Police are investigating a hit and run crash, which occurred Saturday June 11, 2001 around 4:25 am. The crash occurred on Norwood Street N/O Burton Avenue West Rehoboth Delaware.
The crash investigation revealed that a dark colored sport utility vehicle was stopped facing westbound on Norwood Street, when the pedestrian Boyce L. Biles for an unknown reason leaped through the passenger’s side window.
The sport utility vehicle then accelerated away westbound on Norwood Street toward Burton Avenue with Biles still clinging to the side. Biles fell from the vehicle and was partially run over, sustaining head trauma and multiple fractures. The sport utility vehicle turned left onto Burton Avenue and fled to an unknown destination.
Biles was transported to Beebe Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.
The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit are continuing their investigation, and seek the public’s assistance with obtaining additional information surrounding the crash.
