THREE DOVER RESIDENTS CHARGED IN MARIJUANA CASE

Resume: Dover-Delaware State Police’s Kent County Drug unit and Kent County Governor’s Task Force Thursday arrested 3 Dover residences implicated in a marijuana distribution family nexus.
Thursday June 8th members of the Kent County Governor’s Task Force attempted to perform a routine traffic stop on a 1994 GMC pickup truck driven by Samuel A. Perez Jr just after 1 pm on South Bay Road (In front of the Blue Hen Corporate Center).
The Task Force officer in a fully marked State Police cruiser activated his emergency lights; however Perez Jr immediately accelerated in an effort to flee apprehension.
Perez committed numerous traffic violations before jumping from his moving vehicle. Perez’s GMC truck continued a short distance before striking a light pole and fire hydrant on N. Halsey Road town limits of Dover Delaware.
State Police Drug unit and Governor’s Task Force members continued to chase Perez on foot. Perez was apprehended a short time later after he fled into an acquaintance’s residence near N. Halsey Road Dover.
State Police Drug unit members next executed a search warrant at Perez’s residence on the 2000 block of Generals Way in the Generals Green development. After entering the residence, State Police detained Samuel Perez and Milagros Perez, the parents of Samuel A. Perez Jr.
As a result of searching the Perez family’s home, approximately 1 pound of marijuana, a 20 gauge Remington 870 shotgun, a .40 caliber Ruger handgun and weigh scales were seized.
Samuel Perez Jr was charged with crimes related to marijuana distribution, maintaining a dwelling for keeping controlled substances, maintaining a vehicle for keeping controlled substances, weapons, conspiracy and numerous traffic related offenses. Perez Jr was arraigned and remanded to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $24,000 secured bond.
Samuel Perez and his wife Milagros were arraigned for maintaining a dwelling for keeping controlled substances, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, conspiracy and possession of marijuana/drug paraphernalia. Perez and Milagros Perez were released following arraignment each on $10,000 unsecured bond.
