Resume: Lincoln-Delaware State Police were led on a pursuit Wednesday June 8, 2011, after Scott J. Beck57 of Lewes Delaware, narrowly misses driving head-on into a fully marked State Police patrol cruiser.
A Delaware State Trooper around 3:30 pm was traveling northbound on SR 30 Cedar Creek Road Lincoln Delaware, when he observed a vehicle traveling in his lane of travel, and above the posted speed limit (68 mph in a 50 mph zone).
The State Trooper immediately swerved to the northbound shoulder to avoid being hit by Beck’s vehicle a 2003 Ford F-150 pickup. Beck then swerved back across the southbound lane and onto the southbound shoulder before accelerating away.
Beck’s Pursuit was initiated on Cedar Creek Road and concluded at the intersection of Robinsonville Road and John J. Williams Highway. Beck was unable to negotiate through traffic any further and was taken into custody by Troopers.
State Police charged Beck with 19 charges including Driving under the Influence of a combination of Alcohol and any drug, resisting arrest, and 17 other traffic related offenses. After being arraigned Beck was remanded to the Sussex Correctional Institute on $1,517.00 secured bond.
