Resume:

Bear- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a crash involving a tractor trailer that ran off the roadway that occurred this morning in Bear.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:30 this morning as Dean Palmer, 53, was operating an International tractor and semi-trailer and was traveling southbound in the center lane of Rt. 1. Palmer advised investigating troopers that his vehicle ran over a metal object that was in the roadway, which caused his right front tire to blow. Palmer then lost control of the truck, and veered off of the roadway traveling in a southwest direction. The tractor trailer struck a guardrail and then entered a ditch where it came to rest approximately 12 feet west of the roadway. Dean Palmer was not injured.

Initially traffic was not affected by the crash. However, Rt. 1 southbound from US Rt. 40 as well as Rt. 13 southbound from Red Lion and Bear Road have since been closed in order to remove the tractor trailer from the scene. Traffic is being diverted to other roadways in the area.
