Resume:

Troop 3 Woodside-On Friday June 3rd the Delaware State Police Executive Staff and Troop Commander Galen Purcell honored Troopers for accomplishments achieved in 2010.  The awards ceremony only outlines a handful of accomplishments achieved by members of the Delaware State Police throughout 2010. 

 

Deputy Superintendent Lt. Colonel James Paige and Kent and Sussex Counties Operations Major Charles “Chip” Simpson represented the State Police’s Executive Staff in presenting the following awards:

 

Exceptional Performance Award Winners:

Det. Robert Daddio, Det. Donald Christie and DNREC Officer Brian Pollock

Resume: While following up on leads obtained through confidential sources and piecing together evidence, Detectives Daddio, Christie and Officer Pollock located the body of missing person Lisa Mumford after an exhaustive search off of Port Mahon Road Dover.  Evidence obtained assisted in the solving of the Lisa Mumford missing person’s investigation.

 

Cpl. Justin Galloway and Cpl/2 Andrel Martinez

Resume:  Cpl. Galloway and Martinez where on routine patrol in the area of Dover Air Park Dover Delaware when they observed persons fleeing from a residence.  Galloway and Martinez detained the individuals and subsequently obtained a search warrant for the residence.  A as result of the search 34 grams of crack cocaine, 20 grams of marijuana and over $400.00 cash was seized.  

 

Sgt. Jeffrey Whitmarsh and Cpl. Justin Galloway

Resume:  Sgt.Whitmarsh and Cpl. Galloway, following a DUI traffic arrest obtained information regarding a Marijuana Grow Operation in the Milford area.  Whitmarsh and Galloway were able to located the marijuana grow operation several miles off the main road and as a result seized 56 lbs of marijuana.  A subsequent investigation also led to the arrest of the individual responsible for the operation. 

 

Cpl/3 Warren McGee, Cpl/3 Amber Smith and Cpl Justin Galloway

Resume:  Cpl McGee, Smith and Galloway while investigating a domestic disturbance observed a quantity of marijuana inside the residence.  A subsequent search warrant for the residence resulted in the seizure of 506 grams of Marijuana, over $7,200 United States Currency and a stolen handgun.  

 

Sgt. David Weaver

Resume:  Sgt. Weaver already awarded the Trooper of the Year Award for 2010 has also been honored with an Exceptional Performance Award.  Sgt. Weaver was instrumental in solving both the Lisa Mumford and Gary Sanders murders.  Through Sgt. Weaver’s tireless efforts, arrests were made in both investigations as well as the recovery of the victim’s bodies, bringing some closure to the victim’s families.

 

Life Saving Award:

 

Cpl/1 Paul Surowiec

Resume:  Cpl/1 Surowiec was dispatched to a residence of an elderly man who suffered a heart attack.  The victim was unconscious, not breathing and had no pulse.  Cpl/1 Surowiec and a firefighter began CPR on the victim who eventually survived the cardiac arrest. 

 

Cpl/ Danielle Martin and Cpl. Nick Miller

Resume:  Corporals Martin and Miller were investigating a traffic crash when they discovered the operator fled the scene.  Cpl. Martin and Miller responded to the victim’s residence and discovered he was attempting to physically harm himself.  The victim was cut down from a tree and immediately administered medical assistance.  The victim subsequently survived. 

 

Superintendents Citation

Det. J. Lloyd, Det. Ronald Voshell and Sgt. M. Disilvestro

Resume:  Detectives Lloyd, Voshell and Sgt. M. Disilvestro spearheaded Operation Diamond Dog.  Operation Diamond Dog centered on crack cocaine distribution throughout Kent County Delaware.  As a result of months of criminal investigations, one homicide and attempted homicide were solved; $206,000 United States Currency and over 3,129 grams of cocaine were seized.
