Serious Motor Vehicle Crash Now Fatality

Milford-Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit investigated a serious motor vehicle crash Friday June 3, 2011.  The crash occurred around 4:51 pm on Coastal Highway southbound at Wilkins Road Milford Delaware. 

The crash involved a 2006 Yamaha X-17 motorcycle and a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer.  The operator of the Yamaha motorcycle sustained serious injuries and was flown to Christiana Hospital. 

State Police has learned that the motorcycle operator Thomas E. Brown Jr-49 of Milford has died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.  Brown died at Christiana Hospital Saturday June 4^th at approximately 2:56 pm.

Milford-The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating a two vehicle crash that has left a Milford man in critical condition this evening.

The crash occurred at approximately 4:51 p.m. this evening as Joyce Green, 60, of Milford, DE was operating a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling eastbound from Wilkins Road (CR#30) approaching Coastal Highway ( SR#1).  Green’s vehicle entered the southbound lanes of SR#1 into the path of a 2006 Yamaha X-17 motorcycle traveling southbound SR#1, operated by Thomas E. Brown Jr., 49, of Milford, DE.  The vehicles collided with the motorcycle striking the driver’s side of the Trailblazer.

Thomas E. Brown was airlifted by Delaware State Police Aviation Helicopter Trooper 2 to the Christiana Trauma Center where he was admitted in Critical Condition.

Joyce Green was transported by ambulance to Milford Memorial Hospital and treated for non life threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Brown was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.  SR#1 southbound was closed for approximately 2 hours while the crash was investigated.  No charges filed at this time pending continued investigation.

Milford-The Delaware State Police are currently on-scene of a serious motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle at SR#1 Coastal Highway southbound and Wilkins Road, Milford, DE.

Troopers are advising that the roadway is closed and advise motorists to avoid the area and plan alternate routes.  An updated release will be provided as information related to the crash investigation becomes available.
