Hartly-Delaware State Police Sunday June 5, 2011 charged Steve W. Schwan-36 of Hartly with two counts of Rape and one charge of Sex Offender Unlawful Sexual Conduct against a Child. 

On Saturday June 4, 2011 State Police investigated a sexual assault which occurred in the unit block of Brittney Lane Hartly Delaware.  The sexual assault occurred early Saturday morning between 1:00 and 3:00 am. 

Schwan, while at his residence is alleged to have entered a bedroom where the victim was sleeping and committed an unsolicited sexual crime against the 17 year old female victim.  The victim later reported the incident to police.  The victim was staying overnight at an acquaintance’s residence at the time of the crime.   

State Police obtained warrants for Schwan a Tier II registered sex offender and on Saturday unsuccessfully attempted to locate him at his residence.  Early Sunday June 5^th State Police again attempted to contact Schwan at his residence and were successful. 

Schwan has been charged with Rape Second, Fourth Degree and Sex Offender Unlawful Sexual Conduct.  Schwan is being held on $30,000 cash bond in the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center.
