TROOPERS PROBE ROBBERY OF CHECK CASHING BUSINESS


DSP News Release: Troopers Probe Robbery of Check Cashing Business

 

Location: United Check Cashing, 401 Naamans Road, Claymont, DE

 

Date of Occurrence:  Friday, June 03, 2011 at 7:50 a.m.

 

Suspects:

 

Suspect 1: Black male, 20-25 years of age, 6’00”-6’03” tall. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark baseball cap, and dark pants. He was also armed with a silver handgun.

 

Suspect 2: White female in her late teens, 5’02”-5’04” tall, 100 lbs. She was last seen wearing light colored clothing.

 

Victim: 56 year old female employee

Claymont- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating the robbery of a Claymont check cashing business that occurred this morning.

 

The incident happened at approximately 7:50 a.m. today as a female employee of  United Check Cashing, located in the 400 block of Naamans Road, reported for work. As the employee walked toward the business from the parking lot, she was approached by two suspects, one male and one female, on the sidewalk in front of the business. As the suspects began to pass the victim, the male displayed a silver handgun and confronted the victim. He then ordered the victim to open the business and once inside, ordered her to open the business safe. The female suspect remained outside. The victim complied with the male suspect’s demands and opened the safe at which time he removed an undisclosed amount of cash. The male suspect then fled to store and was last seen entering the passenger side of an unknown make and model white vehicle being operated by the female suspect. The vehicle was last seen fleeing the parking lot toward Hickman Road. The victim was not injured.
