DSP News Release: Lewes Man Sought for Home Improvement Fraud

Suspect and Arrest Warrant Information:

·        Michael A. Fitzgerald-29 Lewes, De

• Theft $1,500 or Greater and Victim is 62 yrs of Age or Older
• Home Improvement Fraud
• Carry on Occupations without License

 Resume:

Lewes-The Delaware State Police Fraud investigative unit is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Michael A. Fitzgerald-29 of Lewes Delaware.  Detectives after interviewing the victim in this case obtained arrest warrants for Fitzgerald consisting of Theft, Home Improvement Fraud and a Licensing violation. 

Fitzgerald was contracted out by the 72 year old victim to perform household repairs to her residence.  The victim paid Fitzgerald $1,925.oo to replace all existing piping with new PVC piping.  This included all pipes under her residence, bathrooms and kitchen. 

It wasn’t until after the victim hired a person to spray for insects outside of her residence that she discovered Fitzgerald had not completed any of the work he was contracted to do. 

At the conclusion of the investigation Fraud detectives obtained arrest warrants for Fitzgerald and are actively seeking information on his whereabouts.
