Resume: Wilmington- The victim of this morning’s fatal motor vehicle crash on I-95 in Wilmington has been identified as Vincent S. Amoroso, 35, of Springfield, PA.
This crash remains under investigation.

DSP News Release: Troopers Investigate One Vehicle Fatal Crash
Location: Northbound I-95 south of Marsh Road, Wilmington, DE
Date of Occurrence: Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 12:50 a.m.

Vehicle: 2002 Honda Accord
Resume: Wilmington- The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred early this morning on I-95 in Wilmington.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:50 a.m. this morning as the victim, a 35 year old Springfield, PA man, was operating a 2002 Honda and was traveling northbound on I-95 approaching Marsh Road in Wilmington. The victim then made a left hand lane change and for an unknown reason, traveled off of the east edge of the roadway where his car then struck a guardrail. He then overcorrected his vehicle and crossed all of the northbound lanes of the highway before entering the grass median. The Honda then overturned several times, ejecting the victim whose body came to rest in the southbound lanes of I-95. The Honda came to rest in the grass median.
The victim was transported from the scene by EMS to the Christiana Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His body was turned over to the Delaware Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death. The victim was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
This crash remains under investigation at this time. The victim’s name will be released pending notification of the next of kin.
