TROOPERS INVESTIGATE MOTEL ROBBERY

DSP News Release: Troopers Investigate Motel Robbery
Location: Budget Motor Lodge, 140 South DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE
Date of Occurrence: Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 3:50 a.m.
Suspect: Black male, 20-30 years of age, 5’11” tall, 160 lbs, with a thin build and a light complexion. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and thick black rimmed glasses. He was also armed with a handgun.
Victim: 54 year old female employee
Resume: New Castle- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating the robbery of a New Castle area motel that occurred early this morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:50 a.m. as a male suspect entered the Budget Motor Lodge located in the 100 block of S. DuPont Highway in New Castle. The suspect, who was armed with a handgun, jumped the counter where a 54 year old female clerk was sitting. The suspect confronted the clerk and demanded cash from the register. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction. The clerk was not injured.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have any information in reference to this incident to contact the robbery unit at Troop 2 at 302-834-2630 ext. 6.
