Resume: Selbyville-Delaware State Police have charged Danette N. Hammond-37 of Wilmington Delaware with Assault, Reckless Endangering, Criminal Contempt of a Domestic Violence Protective Order and additional crimes following a domestic disturbance which occurred on Saturday July 23, 2011.
Around 2:49 p.m. Delaware State Police responded to a domestic incident in the 38000 block of Hickory Lane Selbyville Delaware. The investigation revealed that Danette Hammond and her spouse a 39 year old Wilmington man were involved in a verbal altercation over personal matters.
When asked to leave the residence Hammond initially entered her car however returned to obtain some personal items. The victim not wanting another altercation offered to get the items for Hammond. When the victim returned with Hammond’s personal items he tossed them into her car and walked away.
As the victim began walking back into his house Hammond accelerated her vehicle toward the victim. Hammond’s vehicle struck the victim and pinned him between the vehicle and a set of garage doors.
The victim sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention. Hammond next placed her vehicle in reverse, narrowly missing a 13 year old male standing to the rear of her vehicle that had come outside after hearing the commotion.
Following the altercation Hammond fled the scene and was later apprehended by police. Hammond was charged with Assault, Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony, Reckless Endangering and additional crimes. Hammond was arraigned and remanded to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institute on $17,000 cash bond.
