Newport- The Delaware State Police are investigating a five vehicle crash in which three people were injured that occurred early this afternoon on I-95.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. as Kathleen M. Ollek was operating a 2000 Ford Ranger and was traveling in the right hand lane of southbound on I-95 just south of DE Rt. 141, in Newport. Ollek attempted to make a sudden left hand lane change and struck the rear of a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was being operated by Michael L. Residence, 62, and which was traveling in the right hand lane. Kathleen Olleck’s vehicle continued traveling in a southeast direction where it entered into the path of a 2004 Mitsubishi truck that was traveling in the center lane of southbound I-95 and which was being operated by Hipolito L. Calderon. The truck then rolled onto its side while traveling in a southeast direction and was then struck by a 1995 Dodge Ram which was being operated by Lucinda Aparicio, 44. Both the Mitsubishi truck and the Dodge Ram continued traveling in a southeast direction where they came to rest after striking a cement barrier. The Dodge Ram was then struck by a 2006 Honda Odyssey that was being operated by Mary J. Sepulveda, 42.

Kathleen Ollek, Hipolito Calderon, Lucinda Aparicio, as well as a 39 year old male passenger in Aparicio’s vehicle, were all removed from the scene by EMS and transported to the Christiana Hospital where they were all treated for their injuries.
