ONE CHARGED, TWO SOUGHT IN BURGLARY INVESTIGATION

Resume: Millsboro-Delaware State Police detectives Wednesday July 20, 2011 charged James L. Dawson Jr-63 of Seaford Delaware on charges of Burglary, Theft, Forgery, Attempted Theft and Conspiracy.
Wednesday July 20th State Police detectives were contacted by a 66 Millsboro man regarding a burglary complaint and checks stolen at the time of the burglary. During the burglary 3 checks issued by Wilmington Trust and 3 issued by Fulton Bank were stolen.
James L. Dawson Jr. was apprehended on July 20th when he attempted to cash a check written out to him at the Fulton Bank. State Troopers were contacted and upon arriving to the bank took Dawson into custody. Dawson was attempting to cash a 2nd check in the amount of $450.00.
During the course of the criminal investigation detectives additionally learned earlier the same day Dawson successfully cashed a check at a Wilmington Trust Bank in the amount of $550.00. Joshua J. Dutton also cashed a Wilmington Trust check at the same location in the amount of $500.00 belonging to the victim.
The investigation revealed once Dutton, Dawson and McNeil obtained the checks, they drove around together and wrote checks out to themselves to be cashed.
Dawson after being detained was charged with a total of 10 charges related to Burglary, Theft, Forgery, Attempted Theft and Conspiracy. Following arraignment Dawson was released on $11,000 unsecured bond.
State Police Detectives are seeking the public’s help in locating Dutton and McNeil who are still at-large.
