ARREST MADE IN EXXON ROBBERY

Resume: Newark- Delaware State Police Robbery Detectives have arrested a Newark man in connection with an early morning robbery of an Exxon Gas Station that occurred on Saturday, June 25, 2011.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:06 a.m. as a male suspect entered the business with a cloth covering his face and armed with a knife. The suspect confronted the 42 year old clerk and demanded cash from the register. The clerk complied, with the suspect removing an undisclosed amount of money from the register. The suspect then removed cigarettes and lottery tickets from the business before fleeing on foot. The clerk was not injured.
Through further investigation by Troop 2 Robbery Detectives and Troop 6 Patrol Troopers, and with the help of tips from the public, Detectives were able to connect Edward D. Brooks 3rd-28 of Newark, to the robbery.
Brooks was arrested on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 by Troop 2 Robbery Detectives and charged with the above crimes. He was arraigned and committed to HRYCI for lack of $63,000.00 secured bond.
