CAMDEN TEEN CHARGED IN CARJACKING / ASSAULT

Camden-Delaware State Police Thursday July 7, 2011 investigated a carjacking in the 600 block of Rising Sun Road Camden Delaware. 

 

The carjacking occurred around 10:34 pm as the victim was walking to her car.  The 53 year old victim was leaving for work when a 17 year old Camden Delaware teen approached her brandishing a handgun. 

 

The 17 year old teen threatened to shoot the victim and demanded the keys to her vehicle.  The teenager struck the victim multiple times about the head before fleeing in her 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara. 

 

State Police detectives through an anonymous source were able to identify the 17 year old Camden teen as being responsible for the carjacking.  Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the teen who was later apprehended at his residence in the unit block of Lingo Drive Camden Delaware without incident. 

 

The Camden teenager was charged with Carjacking, Assault, Aggravated Menacing, Wearing a disguise while committing a felony and a weapons charge.  After being arraigned the teen was remanded to the Stevenson Detention Center on $57,000 secured bond. 

 

The victim was treated and released from Kent General Hospital for head contusions.
