ARREST MADE IN DONUT SHOP ROBBERY

DSP News Release: Arrest Made in Donut Shop Robbery
Location: Dunkin Donuts, 3804 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE
Date of Occurrence: Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 12:40 p.m.
Defendant: Kevin Horn, 21, Wilmington, DE
Charges:
-Robbery 1st Degree -Wearing a Disguise during the Commission of a Felony
Victim: 27 year old female employee
Resume: Wilmington- Delaware State Police detectives have arrested a Wilmington man in connection with an early afternoon robbery of a donut shop yesterday west of Wilmington.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday as a male suspect entered the Dunkin Donuts located in the 3800 block of Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington. The suspect, who was wearing a ski mask on his face and was carrying a back pack, displayed a handgun and confronted the 27 year old clerk. The suspect then demanded cash from the register. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled and was last seen running into a wooded area in the rear of the donut shop. The clerk was not injured.
Responding troopers searched the neighborhood located behind the donut shop and as a result were able to develop Kevin Horn, 21, as a suspect. A subsequent search of Horn’s residence, which is located in the neighborhood, revealed the proceeds from the robbery as well as the handgun which was found inside of the back pack.
Kevin Horn was taken into custody without incident and charged with the above list of crimes. He was arraigned at the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Facility for lack of $28,000 secured bail.
