Resume: Newark- Delaware State Police detectives have arrested a 25 year old Wilmington man in connection with three bank robberies and one attempted bank robbery that have occurred since June 28, 2011.
This morning, Wednesday, July 6, 2011, robbery detectives arrested Christopher H. West and charged him with the above list of crimes. West, who had been incarcerated at the Howard Young Correctional Facility since yesterday on an unrelated matter, was then arraigned at the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and issued a $92,000 cash bail.
Following a tip from the public, detectives were able to identify Christopher West as the suspect who committed the robberies of the Citizens Bank on Centerville Road, Wilmington on June 28, 2011 as well as the PNC Bank in Elsmere on June 30, 2011. He was also identified as the suspect who attempted to rob the TD Bank located in the 4000 block of Concord Pike in Wilmington on Friday, July 1, 2011. In that incident, West entered the bank at approximately 9:35 a.m. and approached a bank teller. West then presented a demand note for cash which implied that he was armed. West fled the bank, however, before receiving any money.
At approximately 9:50 a.m. the same date, Christopher West entered the Wells Fargo Bank branch located in the 2000 block of Concord Pike and again presented a demand note for cash to a teller. The teller complied with the note and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to West who then fled the bank. There were no injuries in any of the incidents.
