Resume: Bridgeville-Delaware State Police is assisting the Bridgeville Police Department with a motorcycle crash were the operator has died from injuries originally sustained in a June 2011 crash.
The crash occurred Thursday June 30, 2011 just after 4 pm at 18178 Sussex Highway in front of the “Goodwill” N/O Cannon Street Bridgeville Delaware. The crash investigation revealed that a 1972 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Jeffrey A. Daisey-39 of Laurel was traveling southbound on Sussex Highway.
A 1992 Oldsmobile Cutless-Ciera was eastbound exiting the parking lot of Goodwill and crossing the southbound lanes of Sussex Highway. The operator of the Oldsmobile Iris R. Smith-52 of Seaford failed to yield right of way to the motorcycle.
The motorcycle crashed into the driver’s side area of the Oldsmobile ejecting Jeffrey Daisey. Daisey was not wearing a helmet prior to the crash and sustained severe head trauma.
Daisey was flown to Christiana Hospital where he died July 4, 2011 at approximately 3:54 p.m. from injuries sustained in the June 30th crash. A 49 year old female passenger in Smith’s vehicle was injured and taken to Nanticoke Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Smith was not injured.
Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting the Bridgeville Police Department with this crash and the investigating is continuing. |
