Resume: Dover-Vanessa Riojas-26 of Dover was charged Wednesday July 6, 2011 for Assault, Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the commission of a Felony and resisting arrest following an early morning domestic altercation.
Delaware State Police responded to the 3000 block of Lemay Lane Premier Village Apartments Dover just after midnight and learned that Riojas and a former boyfriend were involved an argument over their recent relationship. The argument escalated when Riojas brandished a 9 inch kitchen knife and swung it at the victim.
The knife cut the victim on his hand and required medical attention. The victim received stitches for a two inch cut to the back of his hand.
While the Trooper attempted to handcuff Riojas she struggled with him resisting arrest. Riojas was charged with Assault, Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony and resisting arrest. Riojas was arraigned and remanded to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $3,100 secured bond.
