DSP News Release: Frederica Man Charged after Threatening Father
Location: Residence in the 2700 block of DuPont Parkway, Middletown, DE
Date of Occurrence: Saturday, July 02, 2011 at 7:25 a.m.
Defendant: Shannon O. Marshall, 34, Frederica, DE
Victim: 58 year old Middletown, DE man
Charges:
-Reckless Endangering 1st Degree -Aggravated Menacing -Resisting Arrest -Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited -Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony -Terroristic Threatening
Resume: Middletown- A 34 year old Frederica, DE man has been arrested after threatening his father with a gun in an incident that occurred this morning in Middletown.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:25 a.m. this morning as Shannon O. Marshall, 34, responded to his father’s residence located in the 2700 block of DuPont Parkway in Middletown, DE. Marshall asked his father for money, and when he refused, he produced a single barrel shotgun and began chasing his father around the property, threatening to kill the victim. At one point, Marshall actually pulled the trigger of the gun; however, it did not fire. The victim then responded to a neighbor’s residence where he called 9-1-1. Shannon Marshall fled the residence operating his 1995 Chevrolet pick up truck. The 58 year old victim was not injured.
Troopers learned that Shannon Marshall lived at a residence located in the 4000 block of Andrew Lake in Frederica, DE. They then responded to the residence and upon their arrival, observed his vehicle in the driveway. Officers assigned to the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team (SORT) then approached the residence in an attempt to contact Marshall, however, he did not respond to their request to surrender. After approximately two hours of attempting to convince Shannon Marshall to surrender, SORT team members with the assistance of a state police K-9 team, entered the residence and were able to take Marshall into custody.
Shannon Marshall was arrested and charged with the above crimes. His arraignment information was not available at the time of this release.
