DETECTIVES MAKE DRUG ARRESTS IN MILTON


DSP News Release:  Detectives Make Drug Arrests in Milton

 

Location:  600 block of Bennett Street, Milton, DE

 

Date of Occurrence:   Friday January 11, 2013 at approximately 6:07 a.m.

 

Defendants, Charges, and Bail Information:  

  • Colby Hopkins, 24, Milton, DE (Photo Attached, beard)
    • Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin
    • Possession of Marijuana
    • Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance
    • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

 

Arraigned at JP2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $2,250.00 secured bond.

Arraigned at JP2 and released on $3,000.00 unsecured bond.

Milton, DE- The Delaware State Police Sussex County Drug Unit has arrested five people after the culmination of a several month long joint investigation with Milton P.D. into dealing illegal drugs in the town of Milton.

 

On Friday January 11, 2013, at approximately 6:07 a.m., the Sussex County Drug Unit, with the assistance of the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force, Milton Police Department, and Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team (S.O.R.T.) executed a search warrant at a residence in the 600 block of Bennett Street, Milton, DE.

 

Colby Hopkins, Andrew J. Reed, Zachary W. Caras, Rick L. Barth, Robert H. Baynum, and Tiffany Sahutsky were all taken into custody at the residence without incident.  Hopkins was found to be in possession of approximately four bags of suspected heroin totaling approximately .1 gram, 3 grams of marijuana, two suboxone strips, and one suboxone pill along with drug paraphernalia.  Reed was found to be in possession of two bags of heroin totaling approximately .05 grams and other drug paraphernalia.  Caras, Barth, and Baynum were all in possession of drug paraphernalia.  During the execution of the search warrant, detectives located a 12 gauge shotgun, numerous items of drug paraphernalia as well as over $1,400.00 in suspected drug proceeds.  The investigation also led detectives to search a storage bin located in the Lewes area where an additional 104 individual bags of suspected heroin totaling approximately 2.6 grams were recovered.

 

Colby Hopkins was arrested for Possession with the Intent to Deliver Heroin, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance, and Drug Paraphernalia.  He was arraigned at JP2 and committed on $2,250.00 secured bond.

 

Andrew J. Reed was charged with Possession of Heroin and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  He was arraigned at JP2 and released on $3,000.00 unsecured bond.

 

Zachary W. Caras, Rick L. Barth, and Robert H. Baynum were issued criminal summons for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Caras was released pending a hearing at a later date.  Barth and Baynum were committed to the V.O.P. center in Georgetown by Probation and Parole Officers assigned to GTF for Violation of Probation.  Tiffany Sahutsky was taken to Sussex County Court of Common Pleas on a capias and released after the arraignment.
