Resume:

Harrington-Delaware State Police Monday January 31, 2011 investigated a two vehicle crash on S. DuPont Highway just east of Hammondtown Road Harrington Delaware.

The crash is reported to have occurred around 10:14 a.m.  Delaware State Police initially were responding to this area for a report of a vehicle driven by a person allegedly involved in a bank robbery.  The bank robbery allegedly occurred within the town limits of Milford Delaware.  (Please refer all inquiries regarding the Bank Robbery to the Milford Police Department).

A Delaware State Trooper observed a 1994 Ford Probe heading westbound on Williamsville Road approaching US 13 (S. DuPont Highway).   The Ford Probe is the vehicle allegedly involved with the Milford incident.  The Ford Probe later determined to be driven by Samuel J. Evans-33 of Harrington disregarded a stop sign at S. DuPont Highway northbound then entered a crossover without stopping.  The Ford Probe disregarded a second stop sign and entered the southbound lanes of travel however this time struck a 2006 Honda Civic which was traveling southbound on S. DuPont Highway.

The Honda Civic driven by Carmen Torres-45 of Felton Delaware was struck in the driver’s side of her vehicle.  For reporting purposes the Honda Civic had the right of way.

As a result of the crash Evans was ejected from his vehicle and later transported to Milford Memorial Hospital for treatment.  Torres was airlifted by Delaware State Police Aviation to Christiana Hospital for a possible hip fracture.

Delaware State Police are continuing their investigation however have not formally charged Evans in today’s crash.
