FOUR INJURED IN DE RT. 1 CRASH

DSP News Release: Four Injured in DE Rt. 1 Crash
Location: DE Rt. 1 northbound at the Biddle Toll Plaza, Middletown, DE
Date of Occurrence: Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 10:25 a.m.

Operator #1: Stephanie Burris, 53, Dover, DE Vehicle #1: 1999 Sterling Dump truck owned by Delaware Department of Transportation
Operator #2: Khak Chiev, 34, Port Penn, DE Vehicle #2: 2001 Nissan Xterra
Resume: Middletown- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a two vehicle crash that occurred this morning on DE Rt. 1 in Middletown.
The accident occurred at approximately 10:25 a.m. as Khak Chiev was operating a 2001 Nissan and was traveling northbound on DE Rt. 1 in the right hand lane. As Chiev approached the Biddle Tolls Plaza, he applied his brakes but slid on the slush covered roadway. His vehicle then struck the rear of a 1999 Sterling dump truck that had pulled onto the shoulder of the road at which was being operated by Stephanie Burris.
Khak Chiev and three passengers in his vehicle were all transported from the scene by EMS to the Christiana Hospital where they were treated for non life threatening injuries. Stephanie Burris was not injured.
This crash remains under investigation at this time.
