DSP News Release: Troopers Investigate Two Vehicle Crash in Stanton
Location: DE Rt. 4 (Stanton-Ogletown Road) at Old Churchman’s Road, Newark, DE
Date of Occurrence: Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 11:35 a.m.

Operator #2: Vivian Bahr, 86, Wilmington, DE Vehicle #2: 2002 Chevrolet Malibu

Resume: Stanton- The Delaware State Police are investigating a two vehicle accident in which five people were injured that occurred late this morning in the Stanton area.
The accident happened at approximately 11:35 this morning as Rose Spears was operating a 2004 Ford Explorer and was traveling eastbound on DE Rt. 4 approaching the intersection of Old Churchman’s Road on a green light. As it entered the intersection, Spear’s vehicle struck a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu which had attempted to make a left hand turn from westbound DE Rt. 4 onto Old Churchman’s Road and which was being operated by Vivian Bahr, 86.
Vivian Bahr was trapped inside of her vehicle for approximately 20 minutes until she was freed by emergency workers. She was then transported to the Christiana Hospital where she was treated for non life threatening injuries. Bahr was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
Rose Spears and three passengers in her vehicle were also transported to the Christiana Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.
The roadway was partially closed as the accident was investigated and cleared.
