DSP News Release: Troopers Probe Robbery of Radio Shack

Location:  Radio Shack Electronics Store, 1505 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE

Date of Occurrence:  Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 6:35 p.m.

Victims: 

-52 year old New Castle man

-24 year old New Castle man

Suspects:  Male suspect, 5’10”-6’01” tall, 180-210 lbs, with a large build and a light complexion. He was last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black face mask covering his face. He was also armed with a black revolver type handgun.

Resume:  

New Castle- The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery of the Radio Shack store that occurred early yesterday evening in New Castle.

The incident occurred as a male suspect entered the store located in the 1500 block of N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, at approximately 6:35 p.m. The suspect approached the sales counter where a 52 year old male employee was working. He then displayed a black handgun and demanded money from the store’s register. The victim complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect. The suspect then ordered the victim to the rear of the store where a second employee was working. He then ordered both victims to the floor and then removed numerous cellular phones from a storage area. He then fled from the store in an unknown direction. The employees were not injured.
