PRELIMINARY PEDESTRIAN CRASH RELEASE

Resume: Rehoboth-Delaware State Police earlier this evening around 6:02 p.m. responded to a pedestrian crash which occurred on SR 24 John J. Williams Highway just W/O SR 1 Coastal Highway in the area of Family Dollar 18806 John J. Williams Highway Rehoboth Beach.
Preliminary information surrounding the crash suggests that Field was walking southbound crossing the eastbound lanes of John J. Williams Highway and a Honda Hatchback was eastbound on John J. Williams approaching SR 1 Coastal Highway.
The Honda vehicle is believed to have sideswiped Field with its passenger side. The Honda operator then fled the scene leaving Field injured along the roadway. The Honda vehicle could possibly have front and side damage.
Field was transported to Beebe Medical Center and is listed in serious condition.
I will provide updated information concerning this crash as soon as it becomes available.
Delaware State Police is attempting to piece together the earlier crash and are asking citizens to contact Delaware State Police Troop 7 if they have information concerning this hit and run investigation.
