Resume: Seaford/Laurel-Delaware State Police Monday January 17 and January 18 investigated several residential burglaries in the area of Seaford Delaware. The burglaries and attempted burglaries were reported to have occurred on Brinsfield Avenue Lake Shore Development and Cannon Drive located in Patty Cannon Estates Seaford Delaware.
Delaware State Police learned that on January 17, 2011 a white female later discovered to be Brittany M. Hitch-22 of Laurel Delaware knocked on the front of a residence on Brinsfield Avenue. Hitch believing no one was home then entered the victim’s residence through a rear door. Hitch after being confronted by the victim ran away from the residence.
Delaware State Police on Tuesday January 18, 2011 investigated three residential burglaries in Patty Cannon Estates. During each of these burglaries a suspect pried open doors with a tool in order to gain entry.
During the course of the burglaries suspects Brittany M. Hitch and Amanda D. Norman-23 of Laurel Delaware are alleged to have stolen jewelry, checks, electronic equipment and money. In once incident Hitch forged the name of the victim on a check and obtained cash from a Laurel area bank.
Delaware State Police additionally learned that on two occasions Hitch when confronted by persons inquiring as to why she was at neighboring residences used the story she was looking for her Chihuahua.
Delaware State Police throughout the burglary investigation obtained valuable information from persons living within these communities who observed the suspects in their vehicles and were additionally able to provide police with accurate descriptions of Hitch and Norman.
Delaware State Police initially charged Hitch and Norman on January 18, 2011 for burglaries committed in the Lake Shore and Patty Cannon Estates Developments. On January 19, 2011 Delaware State Police charged Hitch with additional burglaries committed in 2 other Seaford area locations as well as 4 other Laurel neighborhoods.
Hitch and Norman were subsequently remanded to Women’s Correctional Institute on $52,800 and $25,000 respectively. Brittany M. Hitch Amanda D. Norman |
